The OCBS is very happy to announce the launch of the WiPitaka. A web resource designed by Alex Wrona, and funded by the OCBS, the WiPitaka aims to provide translations of the canon, the Tipitaka, and its commentaries used by contemporary Theravāda Buddhists from Pāli in other languages. Its purpose is to:

  • provide translations to as many languages as possible (especially those which hitherto have been left unattended).
  • enable translators to discuss, adapt or criticize their own/others translations.
  • give especially students of Pāli which are often small numbered and scattered all over their country (if not continent) the opportunity to learn with/from each other.

We are very excited to be involved in this new initiative and hope that you will visit the WiPitaka and, if possible, contribute your own translations to it.
